Morris Music Limited opened in 1979 in Sussex, New Brunswick. Gary Morris, founder of Morris Music, decided the town of Sussex needed a full service music store that catered to all musicians. With it humble beginning in his home in Mill Brook, Gary soon found that his idea of a full service music store was more than what he expected and it grew beyond his wildest dreams. In 1981, Gary opened Prime Time Recording Studio, a natural extension of the music store.

Growth is one thing that business needs and can be regarded it's best friend or worst enemy. Gary found that growth was his friend, but the location in Millbrook was not big enough to service his growing customer base from Southern New Brunswick, so the scouting mission began, find a new location that was big enough for future growth and the natural place would be in the downtown core of Sussex. The home of Morris Music at 590 Main Street puts the store in the heart of the retail community of Sussex.

The Saint John Location was the second expansion to the Morris Music family. The Rothesay Ave store is located in a high traffic area with great visibility.
